Twin Baby Names

Twin baby names may be one of the hardest things for you and your partner to agree on. Giving a name to your new little person is no small job. The trend is changing and instead of naming your baby the most popular name of your time many parents are digging deep into their past to find names from their ancestors or something meaningful from their religion. Another trend is unisex names or starting all sibling names with the same letter. Cute site I found www.babyhold.com has lots of great baby name suggestions from traditional to cool, celebrity to exotic. You can search over 3,000 names and meanings. Here are just a few of the stand outs. Good luck choosing your twin baby names!

Princesses & Pirate Ships

I am a big fan of Taylor Swift and she has a song called "The best day" on her most recent album.  You can't help but get teary eyed or in my case bawl every time you listen to it.  If you are a daughter, mother, father or brother it is touching.  It's a love song she wrote to her mom about her childhood.  It so much reminds me of my mom and I hope it is the way my daughter will someday feel about me.  Towards the end there is a line she sings about being 3 years old , "... it's the age of princesses and pirate ships and the seven dwarfs. Daddy's smart and you're the prettiest lady in the whole wide world..."  I cannot help it, I cry every time I hear it.  Ella, my 3.5 year old daughter had me repeat this song for days and then one day she just started singing along to it.  It melted my heart to hear her sweet little voice singing the words as we were looking at each other through the rear view mirror of my car.  Of course yes I am crying again, and completely amazed that my little baby got this song down in about 3 days!  And this is the age of princesses and pirate ships in my house!  Nathan loves to play pirates and is in character pretty much from the time he wakes up until the time he goes to bed.  Ella loves to pretend to be a pirate too!! But, much to my delight, recently she has been more interested in having tea parties and playing dress up! Don't get me wrong I love my little tough tomboy but it's fun for a mommy to do the princess thing with her daughter too.
I guess this song touched me in 2 ways.  As a daughter I could so relate to all of the scenarios in the song, it makes me miss my beautiful mom and wish I had written her a song like this.  And the words touch me as a mom, it is so simple and right on with my life right now with 3.5 year old kids.  It helped me remember that I want everyday to be the best day for my beautiful children.

Vitamins or Candy? Does it matter when you are 3?

This is my first post ever as a blogger! Since this blog is all about my sweet and spunky twins I had to start off with this story.  About a month ago my kids were running all over the house at 7 am while I was frantically brushing my teeth, brushing my hair, getting dressed and finding my other favorite black ballet flat.  I had probably taken a total of 6 minutes to do all of this, but when you are 3 years old that is all the time you need to wreak havoc! When I walked down stairs I should have known something was awry because my kids were way too quiet but I thought to myself, wow they are being so good! I must be doing something right! Another sign of trouble were the completely full plates of waffles and fruit left on the breakfast table. But again I ignored it and thought oh they will just eat a great lunch.  On this morning we had gymnastics class so I was trying to round them both up to get in the car.  As is standard most mornings we are missing some essential item and this day it was Nathans shoes.  I'm all over the place looking when something under my dining room table catches my eye.  I push away a chair and to my horror is a large bottle of Flinstone vitamins upside down with the cap off.  I pick it up and 2 lonely vitamins fall out.  It was a 150 count bottle!  Well I pretty much flew off the handle! Immediately I called the 24 hour poison control hotline, told the lady what happened all the while feeling like an incompetent mother.  She assured me they would be ok even if one of them had eaten all 150.  After my panic died down I realized what these two little thiefs had really done.  That bottle of vitamins was on the second shelf of our top kitchen cabinets.  They had to have pushed a stool over, climb up on to the counter top and grab it! How in the world did they do this? All in 6 minutes?  To this day I am still bewildered that they cooked up this scheme and executed it so quickly and quietly.  I pretty much freaked them out when I started crying and to my knowledge they have not tried to do it again.  The worst part of the whole thing was about 1 in the afternoon I kept smelling this horrible stench and I could not figure out what it was.  I kept smelling my hair, my clothes, my fridge.  Then as I picked up my son to go upstairs for naps I gagged! It was coming from him!  His head and feet and hands were exuding this raunchy smell!  The overdose of vitamins had nowhere to go but out!  He must have done the majority of the eating! I was so grossed out and I think he was too.  This is the kind of thing that happens often in our house.
